Revisit Day a Success

Northwood School’s 2024 Student Revisit Day went great! We received positive feedback from the families and students who attended. Of the 34 students who visited, 24 are enrolled to attend Northwood in the fall. Mr. Gino Riffle is Northwood’s Director of Admissions, and he and his team organized the event.

“We like to involve our current students into revisit day and any other tour of the school during the year,” Mr. Riffle said. “Our students our great tour guides and this can make the student receiving the tour feel more comfortable.”

Students were involved I other ways, too. “Students sat on panels and presented on different aspects of their Northwood experience. They also ate lunch with the visiting students and were tremendous ambassadors for Northwood,” Riffle said. “Usually, the visiting students eat lunch with current students who participate in the same sport or club as they would if they came. This isn’t always the case, though. Lunch is a great time for Northwood’s current and visiting students to connect on a less formal level,” he added.

Revisit Day is designed to help admitted students and their families make their decision about where they will go to school. “We have Revisit Day to give accepted families an opportunity to see more about what we offer each student at Northwood. On an initial tour, a family gets an overview of what the Northwood experience is like and how the campus is,” said Riffle. “With over 350 tours, we do not have time to introduce visiting families to many people on campus. During the revisit day, students and families experience our different programs, visit classes, and see a small piece of a ‘Day in the life of Northwood’. They have opportunities to speak with all our program directors and have lunch with teachers and students,” added Riffle.

The timing of Revisit Day is important. “We have revisit day in late March, because the admission acceptance day is March 10th, and admitted families have until April 10th to let us know their decision,” Riffle explained. “We need to have it before we go on spring break. It is helpful for us, because our competitors are often on their spring break already, so the Northwood revisit day is almost always the first one among all boarding schools,” said Riffle.
