A Look Inside the Girls’ Rooms in West Dorm

Every dorm room at Northwood has its own personality, shaped by the students who live there. In West Dorm, students can make their rooms feel like home, whether they live alone or share the space with a roommate.

Victoria Fortier ’27, a senior in her second year at Northwood and an alpine skier, lives in a single room. Nellie Green ’29 and Athena Wilson ’29, both members of Northwood’s girls’ hockey team, share a double room. Their different layouts and decorations demonstrate how students can personalize their living spaces.

Fortier’s single room has a cozy, personal appearance. Her wooden loft-style bed is decorated with string lights, while flowers, pillows and other small decorations make the space feel welcoming. A large window brings in natural light, and her desk provides a place to study and organize her belongings.

As an alpine skier, Fortier balances academics with a busy training schedule. Her single room provides a quiet place to relax after a long day and allows her to arrange and decorate the space according to her preferences.

Green and Wilson’s double room has a different atmosphere. It includes two wooden beds, desks and a large window that brightens the space. A patterned rug and personal decorations add color and make the room feel comfortable. Although they share the room, each student has her own area to decorate and organize.

Green and Wilson spend time together as teammates and roommates. Their room gives them a place to talk and relax outside of classes and hockey practices while maintaining their own personal areas.

Although the rooms have different layouts, all three students have added personal touches to make their spaces comfortable. Their rooms demonstrate how students can make West Dorm feel like a home away from home while managing the busy schedules of Northwood student-athletes.
