Ski Team Trains in Austria

Twent-six members of the Northwood ski team traveled to Austria for a pre-season training camp. Since October 13th, the ski team has been skiing at the Stubai Glacier. The conditions have not been optimal for the team but have made the skiers more skilled on icy conditions, which will serve them well during the Eastern race season.

“It was very icy which really made everyone step up their game, get more balanced on their skis,” said Coach Terry DelliQuadri. “Today, when it was winter conditions, everybody looked really good out there. I’m really liking where the team is heading,” he added.

“The conditions at this camp are very different from last year,” said JoJo Rosenbluth. “Only about a half of the Glacier is open compared to how much was opened last year, and there are a lot less people here training and less lanes opened,” said Rosenbluth. “There are a lot more rocks exposed, which was really hard on our skis,” she added. “A lot of our skis got destroyed. It’s really icy because there isn’t a lot of snow; however, this will make it easier for us to ski on normal snow,” said Rosenbluth.

The student-athletes are expected back at Northwood School today.
