Restaurant Review: Lake Placid Pub and Brewery

The Lake Placid Pub and Brewery (Photo provided)

In my three weeks in Lake Placid, I have already eaten at The Lake Placid Pub and Brewery (affectionately knows as “The Pub”) twice. The Pub provides not just great food, but also a great setting for a meal.  It offers both inside and outside seating.  Inside has a great classic sports bar feel. Even though outdoor dining is limited when Northwood is in session, scenery is beautiful.  You can sit outside and enjoy quality food while overlooking Mirror Lake, and beyond the lake, the mountains.

The Pub offers broad choices for each meal. For appetizers, you can select a classic, such as nachos or chicken wings, and also soups, salads, or even small pizza. The appetizer are reasonably priced (the most expensive is $13), and you are sure to get your money’s worth. My recommendation for an appetizer is either the Buffalo Shrimp or the Maple BBQ Chicken Wings. Both have a great zesty flavor and offer a little bit of spice.

There is no shortage of entree options either.  The menu offers different kinds of burgers, barbecue entrees such as brisket, steaks, fish, and classic sandwiches. I highly recommend the tuna melt sandwich.  Also, if you are very hungry, some entrees are served with heaping amounts of food. The BBQ brisket can basically feed two — at a very affordable price.  The entrees are great, and you are sure to never leave The Pub hungry.

I highly recommend The Lake Placid Pub & Brewery, especially to all Northwood students and faculty.  It has great food and beautiful scenery.  Furthermore, it is probably the closest restaurant in walking distance from Northwood School. Prices are fair and the service is friendly and fast.  The restaurant also has a broad appeal, as many people with different tastes could find something to their liking on the menu.  My overall rating of The Lake Placid Pub & Brewery (5 stars):

5star

What you Need to Know:

The Pub doesn’t take reservations, and the wait for a table can get long, especially during busy weekends. We think it’s worth the wait.
