Three Lake Placid Hotels for Northwood Visitors

Families visiting Northwood School have several hotel options within a short drive of campus. These three properties offer different combinations of location, amenities and atmosphere. Drive times are approximate, and room rates vary significantly depending on travel dates, room type, availability and taxes.

Cambria Hotel Lake Placid – Lakeside Resort

Located approximately five minutes from Northwood, the Cambria offers modern accommodations overlooking Lake Placid.

My parents have stayed there several times and have continued returning. The hotel offers complimentary Wi-Fi and parking, a heated indoor pool, a fitness center and an on-site restaurant.

Mirror Lake Inn Resort & Spa

The Mirror Lake Inn is approximately three minutes from Northwood and offers the most luxurious experience of the three properties. The AAA Four Diamond resort includes lake and mountain views, dining options and a full-service spa.

The Weibrecht family has owned the resort since the late 1970s. Andrew Weibrecht ’03, the resort’s vice president and operations manager, is a Northwood alumnus and two-time Olympic medalist in alpine skiing.

“The location offers privacy whilst also being close to everything you need,” said Emily, a front desk supervisor. “There are also luxury facilities for visitors to enjoy.”

She added that the inn’s proximity to Northwood makes it one of the most convenient accommodations in town.

The resort may offer a discount to Northwood families. Visitors should contact the hotel directly to confirm eligibility and availability before booking.

High Peaks Resort

High Peaks Resort is approximately four minutes from Northwood. Its location provides convenient access to Main Street’s restaurants and shops, as well as Mirror Lake and the Olympic Center.

The property includes three accommodation areas: the Main Resort, Lake House and Waterfront Collection. Guests have access to shared amenities that include indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness center and dining.

“All the guests are important, and we try to do the best to make the whole experience worth it,” hotel representative Melanie Werenczak said.

Each hotel offers a different experience. The Cambria provides modern accommodations and lakeside amenities, the Mirror Lake Inn offers a luxury resort experience and High Peaks Resort provides convenient access to Main Street.

Before making a reservation, families should compare current rates and policies and ask each hotel whether it offers a Northwood family discount.
