Junior Team Splits Season Opener

Last weekend (September 15th to 16th), the Junior Hockey Team played two home games against USPHL rivals, Jersey Hitmen. The Huskies split the weekend series.

Game one was a tight matchup, with the Hitmen scoring in the first period and then Northwood retaliating with Josh Waters ‘19 (Forward) netting his first Northwood goal. The game went to overtime, and after near-constant pressure on the Hitmen’s goalie in the extra stanza, a loose puck bounced the HItmen’s way, leading to a breakaway and the Hitmen’s win.

In game two, the Huskies shut out the Hitmen 5-0. Daniel Colabufo ‘20 (Forward) scored his first Northwood goal, and the other goals were scored by Tommy Bannister ‘20 (Forward) Andrew Gilbert ‘19 (Defense), Elijah Deveraux ‘20 (Forward), and Cody Monds ‘19 (Forward). Senior Ryan Wilson earned his first Northwood shutout in goal.
