Northwood ski racers earned seven of the nine podium spots in Super G, Giant Slalom, and Slalom events during the 2019 Empire State Winter Games, taking home two golds, three silver, and two bronze medals.
In Super G, Northwood girls swept the podium with Jaden Klebba ‘21 in first, Ava Day ‘21 in second, and Madison Kostoss ‘21 in third. Other skiers finished just outside the podium. Audrey Higgins-Lopez ‘21 finished in fourth, Gabby Cote ‘20 finished in seventh, and Kate Broderick ‘22 finished twenty-eighth.
Chelsea Smith ‘19 finished first and Beth Fisher ‘19 finished second in the 2019 Empire State Winter Games Giant Slalom event.
In the Giant Slalom, it was another strong performance from the Northwood girls. Two Northwood skiers finished on the podium: Chelsea Smith ‘19 finished first and Beth Fisher ‘19 finished second. Other racers in the top ten were JoJo Rosenbluth ‘19 (6th) Gabby Cote ‘21 (8th).
Sunday’s Slalom race saw another strong showing from Northwood skiers. JoJo Rosenbluth ‘19 and Sarah Coombs ‘19 both finished on the podium, in second and third place respectively. Beth Fisher ‘19 finished fourth and Gabby Cote ‘21 finished nineteenth.
