Girls’ Hockey Goes Undefeated Against NAHA

On January 12-13, the Northwood girls hockey team hosted NAHA for two home games The Huskies went undefeated on the weekend with a record of 1-0-1.

In the first game, with the horrible ice conditions, the Huskies struggled to get scoring chances on net. However, on the power play, Madison Novotny (2021, Defense) scored first for the Huskies putting them up 1-0. NAHA, wouldn’t back down as a couple minutes later, they responded off the faceoff with a goal to tie the game up at 1. Rachel Hinkley  (2021, Goaltender) and Courtney Fairchild (2020, Goaltender) combined for the tie.

The second game proved to be a better game for the Huskies. Right from the start, they dominated play. In the second, Miranda Bookman  (2020, Forward) scored off a scrum in front of the net to put the Huskies up at one. NAHA then responded with a goal knotting the score at one to end the second stanza.

In the third, the Huskies dominated play. Bookman tallied her second of the game off a rebound and Mackenzie Hull (2020, Forward) scored an empty netter to get the win 3-1. Emilie Venne  (2020, Goaltender) backstopped the team for the win in net.
