
Mr. Tom (“Brody”) Broderick in the 1988-89 Epitome during his first year of teaching at Northwood School.
- He’s the middle of 5 kids. He had 3 brothers and a sister.
- After graduating from high school in Holyoke, MA, he took a PG year at Cushing Academy.
- At Hamilton College, he was a four-year varsity letter winner in ice hockey and soccer. He won the Sellers Award presented to a hockey player who, in the judgment of his teammates and coaches, has contributed greatly to the team through his effort and performance both on and off the ice, twice. He also won the Coach’s Award his senior year in college for his outstanding dedication and contribution to the soccer program as a co-captain.
- He’s been working at Northwood for 31 years since the August of 1988, the year he graduated college. During his time at Northwood, he taught six members of the current faculty: Ms. Haggerty, Mr. Nemec, Mr. Welsh, Mr. Eaton, Mr. Vonn, and Mr. Gilligan. He is currently the Assistant Head of School and the Head Coach of Boys’ Prep Hockey.
- He used to coach Girls’ Hockey as well as Boys’ Soccer at Northwood. His all-time record as a soccer coach is 186-86-16. He also coached at the USA Hockey Women’s National Camp.
- He acted in local plays Glengarry Glen Ross as Moss and The Pillowman, as Michal. He also runs backstage for The Nutcracker, a ballet performance annually held at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts.
- He loves to ski in his free time. He also referees soccer games from time to time. Sometimes he is a live-event announcer. He has announced during ESPN Great Outdoor Games, Marathons, Half Iron Man.
- He’s one of nine Northwood School employees who have children currently attending the school. Both of his children, Morgan Broderick ‘19 and Kate Broderick ‘22, go to Northwood.
- He’s lived all around the Northwood campus, including apartments currently occupied by Mr. Spear, Mr. H. Runyon, Ms. Agnew, and the original headmaster’s apartment that includes Mr. Welsh and Ms.Getz’s apartments.
- He started to lose his hair in his late twenties and started shaving his head after he got married in 2000.
