The Huskies extended their five-game win streak this weekend by taking down the Cornwall Typhoons on Saturday morning. It was an all-around team effort as the Huskies faced many obstacles in the game. Injuries and SATs took a toll on the Huskies’ bench, causing a few plays to be out of the lineup. The girls persisted, winning the home game 4-2 in front of a big Family Weekend crowd.

Four different players tallied goals for the Huskies. Lexi Hooper (Forward, 2020) started the scoring early in the first. A few seconds later Keely Rose (Forward, 2018) buried a beautiful backdoor shot to put the Huskies up 2-0 only minutes into the game. Before the end of the first, Moe Tsukimoto (Forward, 2018) and Kendall Dubin (Forward, 2018) netted one apiece to extend the Huskies lead to 4-0.

The Huskies went into the second period up 4-0 but the Cornwall Typhoons did not stop pressing forward. They netted two goals in the second making the game 4-2. The Northwood defense held strong in the third period to keep it at 4-2 and complete the win. Olivia Skriloff (Goalie, 2018) stopped 15 of 17 shots.

With this weekend’s wins, the Huskies move to 7-2 on the season. The girls will be traveling to Port Hope, ON to play their first NAHPA league games against Trinity College School.
