For this weekend’s first game, on Saturday (10/1), the boys faced Saratoga Elite U16 and won 4-2. Coach Gilligan called it “A sloppy game in which we gave up far too many scoring chances,” but Rio Kaufman (2020) held down the fort in net. Goals were scored by Cody Monds (2) (Forward, 2020), Finn Ulrick (Forward, 2019) and Will Arquiett (Forward, 2019).
On Sunday (10/2), the boys had a double header against the Northern Selects, winning 7-2 and 3-0. Of the first game, Coach Gilligan said, “It was a better performance. We limited chances and capitalized on offensive opportunities.” Monds (2), Weston Batt (2) (Forward, 2019), Tommy Bannister (Forward, 2020), Arquiett, and Zach Ellsworth (Defense, 2019) scored for the Huskies. They game back in the second game Sunday and won again 3-0. Bannister notched 2 tallies, and Ulrick had one. Coach Gilligan was, “pleased with our jump on Sunday with the quick turnaround. The boys’ simplified their game and possessed the puck for a majority of the contest.”
