Prep Hockey Goes Undefeated in Maine

The prep team started their season off strong with two wins against Bridgton Academy’s prep team this weekend (9/24-25). In game one on Saturday the Huskies prevailed 4-2 with Luke Damiano (Forward, 2017), Connor Reid (Forward, 2018), Alec Herman (Defense, 2018), and Evan Carroll (Forward, 2018) finding the back of the net. Drew Goldberg (2017) was in the net for the win.

On Sunday the boys came away with another win 3-2 with Joe MacLean (Forward, 2017) and Evan Carroll notching goals before Martin Simanek (Defensemen, 2017) struck for the game winner. Eric Short (PG) was in the net and recorded his first career Northwood win.

Head Coach Jeff Silengo said, “I was impressed with how hard the team competed in both games and the way we responded when goals were scored against us.” He also said he saw a positive in the fact that players from all over the line up contributed and put up points. He praised his goaltenders for their stellar play, keeping the team in both games and for giving them the chance to win.

ICE CHIPS: Joe MacLean picked up 4 points on the weekend (1G, 3A), Luke Damiano had 3 (1G, 2A) as did Evan Carroll (2G, 1A). Rintaro Akasaka had 2 assists, Safwaan Kahn had 1 assist, and Martin Simanek, Alec Herman, and Connor Reid each had a goal apiece.
