I am the Associate Director of Admissions and Financial Aid.
What brought you to Northwood?
I had been familiar with the Lake Placid area and had visited Northwood previously. I also had a personal connection with multiple faculty members before working here.
What made you pick your career?
I went to boarding school and appreciated my time there and the experience/opportunities that came with that. I felt ready for college and well-prepared. I thought it might be cool to be on the other side and help kids get to boarding school and help them through their high school years.
What did you do before working at Northwood?
I played professional hockey the first couple of years out of college, then worked in finance and sales. I got into coaching and figured out that I liked working with young people and wanted to do more of that. I also worked at Northwestern University and Berkshire School.
What are your first impressions of Northwood?
It is a welcoming place with friendly, smart and interesting people. I was very warmly welcomed when I first came to visit. I also found the things happening at school are amazing, including the newspaper reboot and the robotics program.
Do you have kids and would you like them to go to Northwood? If yes, why?
No kids currently, but if I do have kids they are ‘absolutely going to Northwood’
What do you think Northwood is going to bring you?
I feel like the school has already given me a great opportunity and I couldn’t ask for anything more. I am looking forward to working closely with long-time faculty and add some new ideas along with bringing the school towards a successful future.
How is Northwood different or similar from your high school?
I attended Taft and the similarities come with living in close proximity to your classmates, teammates and faculty members. The differences come with the size of the school and the opportunities that Northwood has because of where it is located.
How do you like Lake Placid?
I like it a lot, but I still feel like I have a lot of exploring to do. I like having the ability to walk to work and into town as well as the small town feel and the friendly people.
What are your favorite memories at school so far?
That crazy rock, paper, scissor orientation game.” I also find it fun to get to know all the students.
Tell us something most people here don’t know about you.
When I was in junior high and high school all I wanted to be was a member of the Beastie Boys. I also really like the outdoors and participated in a NOLS course which consisted of Mountaineering in Patagonia in 2010.
What did you do this summer?
I was at school and work a lot, but I also went to England for the first time to visit Ms. Middleton. I also went to Chicago and Wisconsin to visit family.
