For most Northwood students, getting a haircut requires finding time to leave campus and make an appointment. Tendo Zikuzoka ’28, however, has made the process more convenient by offering haircuts to fellow students in Bergamini Hall.
After Northwood’s previous student barber, Edourad Laberge ’26, graduated last year, Zikuzoka stepped into the role. He generally cuts hair in a Bergamini bathroom after dinner, setting up his equipment and cleaning the area when he finishes. Students can schedule a haircut by texting him or asking him in person.
“I wanted to step up to be a barber at school to help everyone out and to practice”, Zikuzoka said.
Cutting hair gives Zikuzoka an opportunity to help other students while improving his technique. He hopes the experience will help him continue developing as a barber and create future opportunities.
Mark Tverskoy ’27, a Northwood postgraduate student, recently received a haircut from Zikuzoka.
“My haircut was very quick, and I am happy with the results”, Tverskoy said.
Mark said the convenience of getting a haircut on campus was particularly helpful for students who have limited time to travel into town. He plans to return to Zikuzoka for another haircut.
